			******Creating New Pathways to Industrial Classification******

In 1997, the North America Industry Classification System (NAICS) will replace
the Standard Industrial Classification System (SIC) as the new standard to
describe business establishments and industries.  What are the differences
between the NAICS and SIC codes?  What is the timeline for development?  How
will this affect commercial publishers that use SIC codes?  What implications
does the transition have for business research?
